Beginners Welcome!

StoneGait is home to one of Ontario's top riding academies!  With a wide array of horses and ponies, StoneGait has the right mount for any rider. Once riders have mastered the fundamentals of riding, they then have the option of specializing in the hunter/jumper discipline, or saddleseat.
The majority of our horses/ponies are school masters that have retired from years of success in the show ring! Whether your goal is to become a competitor in the show ring, or just want to learn the fundamentals of riding properly, come experience the difference quality makes with StoneGait!
Why choose StoneGait Stables?
Many riders choose StoneGait because they are tired of traditional riding schools that operate as lesson "factories". StoneGait is a family oriented farm with a great barn community! You will feel part of the team!

Riders are expected to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the lesson to allow time to groom and tack up their horse. A staff member is always present to assist riders who need help tacking up their horse however  it is the rider's responsibility to have their horse ready and prepared for their lesson before the lesson time starts.
What Do I Need For Lesson?

Riders are required to wear a properly fitted ASTM/SEI approved riding helmet. Helmets are an essential piece of safety equipment and each student should have their own.   We do provide loaner helmets for new riders, but ask that riders buy their own within 4 lessons.

Riders are also required to wear hard-sole boots with a minimum 1.5 centimeter heel. For beginner riders, rubber boots are perfect when starting out.  We also suggest that beginner riders where comfortable pants. Jeans are ideal for riding!

Safety vests are recommended when learning to ride and or jump.
